The “5am Photobooth” Spotify Playlist (I Hate Radio)

The 5am Photobooth Spotify Playlist

Every Tuesday (or Monday night) I put out a new curated playlist for your listening enjoyment. You can "Just Hit Play" or check out the song list below for Easter Eggs about the bands.

Last week's playlist was my “Sofa King Birdland” playlist, you can listen to it HERE.

And, as always, Explore, Enjoy, and Share Music!

The Songs

1. Hey Man Nice Shot, Filter, Short Bus (Reprise Records, 1995)

I guess this album is over 20 years old now. I guess that means I am old now. I will now go cry.

2. No Reason, Death Valley Girls, Street Venom (Burger Records, 2014)

Can't really tell you how much I love this song, it really speaks to me.

3. Teasin', Hiccup, Imaginary Enemies (Father/Daughter Records, 2017)

Rocking good tune. Don't know too much about them, but I will learn (as always).

4. Incinerate, Sonic Youth, Rather Ripped (Geffen Records, 2006)

One of my all-time favorite bands (probably my fourth or fifth favorite SY album). Great song.

5. 5am, Chastity Belt, I Used To Spend So Much Time Alone (Sub Pop, 2017)

Yup, the new Chastity Belt album comes out June 2nd. If it is half as good as the last album it will be epic (and I have liked everything that I have heard so far). Can't wait.

6. That's When I Reach for My Revolver, Mission Of Burma, Signals Calls and Marches (Ace Of Hearts Records, 1981)

If there is a classic alternative Boston band it is Mission of Burma (yes, yes, Pixies too). Glad to finally work some MOB into a playlist.

7. Half Poison Half God, The Underground Youth, What Kind of Dystopian Hellhole Is This? (Fuzz Club Records, 2017)

Another band that is new to me, but I love this song.

8. Violet, See Through Dresses, Horse of the Other World (Tiny Engines, 2017)

Cool throwback sound here reminds me a little bit of Cocteau Twins at the beginning.

9. Photobooth, Joey Purp, iiiDrops (Save Money, 2017)

Technically, this album came out quite a while ago as a mixed-tape on Soundcloud (I wrote about it when it came out). However, I have been waiting for it to finally come out as an album and here it is. Photobooth makes me smile every time I hear it.

10. Music, Madonna, Music (Maverick, 2000)

Always liked this song, goes well with Photobooth. Enjoy!

11. Kool-Aid, Danny Brown, Silicon Valley Soundtrack Album (2017)

My favorite Detroit emcee is back with this new goodie, keep em coming DB.

12. Our Destiny/Roadhouse Garden, Prince, Single (NPG, 2017)

This is one of the recently released Purple Rain era singles. RIP Prince (sigh).

Closing Time

A pretty diverse playlist, which is kind of what I shoot for. Hope you had fun listening.

I call my site "On Pirate Satellite" because of the song "This is Radio Clash" by The Clash

The crazy names of the playlists were inspired by Captain Beefheart.
